Welcome to the world of loriannart...
"Have you ever seen sculptured acrylic paint before? That is my medium. I have tried other media, but this one stuck with me - it is my favorite."
~ Loriann Rodriguez
Loriann Rodriguez ‘grew up local’ in Central Texas, where it is easy to fall in love with the outdoors. That’s why, she supposes, most of her paintings are nature scenes.
Rodriguez studies many different types of art, including limestone sculpture, large format painting, and various clay works. She often participates in street fairs and festivals where she sells her artwork. It was during one of those events that Rodriguez met another artist who encouraged her to join the Lost Pines Art League (formerly Bastrop Fine Arts Guild). Membership with the League provides Loriann more visibility and additional opportunities to showcase her work.
Primarily known for 3-dimensional acrylic paintings, Loriann employs a unique process of applying numerous layers of paint to a molded template, allowing them to dry, re-sizing and shaping them, then repeating those steps until the pieces are built up to the thickness needed for a particular component in her painting. Most templates are handmade by Rodriguez to obtain the size and shape she needs, though she does sometimes use common household items like cups, saucers, or plates.
Rodriguez believes artistic talent is a God-given gift, and she looks for ways to share it while balancing her full-time job as a teachers assistance and it currently a college student at Austin Community College and plans to transfer to Texas State for her bachelors in Art education and associates in sculpture. She says learning is a constant, and so is giving. In fact, one of her favorite sayings is, “Teach and be taught.”
